Android Touchpad 7 (with Ice Cream Sandwich!).

Thanks Boyfriend!

This is my birthday present from Boyfriend, a shiny new Android Touchpad 7 with the latest software, the operating system is called Ice Cream Sandwich, how cute is that?! Sadly, I seem to be having problems with their Blogger App, and I can't attach images to posts from the blogger website on it's browser... So I will try and smooth that out as soon as I can! Feeling very lucky right about now! xoxo

Early Birthday!

Well aren't I the lucky one?
My birthday presents have already started coming in and it's still a week until the big day.
Boyfriend's Mum has sent over some gorgeous bath bombs and a cute hold all bag.
She hasn't mentioned where she got either of them, so I'm sorry I can't post any links.
I've been interested in bath bombs, but never stopped to buy any so I'm quite looking forward to trying these. She's told me to take them on holiday and try them when I'm in a hotel as I'd be mad to use them in my own bathroom because they make such a mess (has anyone used them before? Do they actually explode? I've been told to run a full hot bath and drop it in and it will explode and fizz and make it all nice). The hold all is ideal for my upcoming trip to France and I adore the glamour puss image as I'm cat mad, I just have a Boyfriend who is super allergic so I can't have a real one. I'm started to get really excited now. xoxo

Say hello to my little friend.

Well I wish. Boyfriend and I are quite happy to agree how we both would like a pet dog when we eventually live in a house with a garden, somewhere out there in the future. We can agree that we both want a golden Labrador (think Andrex puppy). But what I really want, is a little black Pug. As puppies, they are called puglets. How bloody cute is that. I would like a boy. I would call him Captain Fantastic which would be Captain for short. Oh how I want a little black pug. Somebody make my wish come true! xoxo

Happy Father's Day.

Thank you to the man who raised me, educated me, protected me and over a few decades became one of my best friends. I love you, Dad. xoxo

Coffee and biscuits.

There's always time for a cup of joe and a biscuit or seven with your best bud. Nothing special, just a good old weekly catch up. I felt like a little girl again as we munched on teacakes. I've never understood why they're called teacakes because they are just marshmallow covered in chocolate with a biscuit base. Nothing like a cake and nothing much to do with tea. Still, delicious. xoxo

Give me a nomination? Thanks.

Dear readers,

Some of you know and some of you don't, that I began blogging as a way to keep my family and friends, who are spread across the globe, up to date with my life. Then it became my hobby, I actually got a camera just to catalogue my life and capture my own photographs. I now have my sights set on a decent SLR model for better close up and arty shots. My blog is now my life line. I can vent, give thanks, rave about products, post wish lists and must haves. It's like having a second boyfriend who is interested in mindless chatter, shopping and beauty. I always write what I mean, I don't hold back, if I love or hate something it's all on here. I'm lucky enough to clicked around the Blogger website so much that friends now ask for my help with their own blogs. My inspiration comes from my favourite blogs which I check up on every chance I get, have a look at my 'Calamity Recommends' section on the right of this page.

So, I ask you to nominate me for the Cosmo Blog Awards (in association with Next), under the 'NEXT Newcomer Blog' Category. I have been blogging since August 2011.

Here's the link to the NEXT nomination page - link!

You can find the same nomination form on the Cosmo website by clicking on the Cosmo Blog Awards badge here on the right hand side of my page. It will redirect you to the NEXT form when you select that my blog is less than a year old.

Thank you and I appreciate every single one of you who cares enough to read my stuff.

xoxo

p.s. I've nominated:
Fiona's Beauty Reviews and Things as Best New Beauty Blog
Aislinn's The A.M Beauty as Best Established Beauty Blog

Birthday Blues.

It's only 17 sleeps until my birthday. I can feel the murmurs of a 'mid life crisis' in the making. I used to make fun of people who were sketchy about getting older. I'm not even old yet for goodness sake, I'll be turning 24. I mean, when I had my 21st birthday I was just so excited to be 21. I hardly noticed that I turned 22, but that might have been because I was in staying the Royal Suite of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. I was slightly aware that I was getting older on my 23rd birthday, but it didn't bother me so much. This year, I am freaking out. Credit where credit is due to Boyfriend as a trip to France is quite a distraction. Left to my own devices I'd probably be in sweatpants drinking red wine out of the bottle, too anxious to organise anything fun, looking deranged and not wanting to see anyone. Perhaps it's because all of my other friends are mothers, or have great careers, or are married, or engaged. I have an overdraft and a bus pass. My schizophrenia is in overdrive. While all of this is raging around my skull, I little part of me is watching from a distance tapping her foot, rolling her eyes and telling me to stop being such a child and get over it. I have listed the great things about my life at 24 to try and boost morale.

1. I have the best Boyfriend anyone could ask for, caring, funny, clever.
2. I have wonderful friends who are always there for me.
3. I'm the only one of my childhood friends who doesn't need a babysitter. (Sorry to rub it in).
4. I'm being driven to see champagne cellars and the Eiffel tower in a slick new convertible Mercedes.
5. I have all the music I could ever need, something I can't live without.
6. My family are at arms length, far enough away to not drive me insane, but close enough for support.
7. I have a permanent full time job.
8. I don't have to pay for road tax, MOT's, insurance, petrol and parking.
9. I have everything I need.

That should shut me up for a while. I'll just keep on repeating the list to myself, like a mantra. xoxo

You're not so perfect yourself.

You can all just back off with the jokes now. I'm fed up with people making fun of the way I talk.
A friend once told me it's called a military accent, even though I've never had anything to do with the army, nor have any recent family members. But I have travelled quite a lot.

My mam and her family are all from Newcastle, so sometimes I sound very northern.

My friends growing up in Spain that spoke English mostly had London accents.

My boyfriend has a very British accent, despite being born in Wales.

My colleagues are mostly Welsh as Welsh can be.

When I was younger at school, and let me just clarify that I attended a total of 13 different schools, other children would be rude and shun us because we were the 'spanish/english' kids, depending on where we were.
Brilliant.

So no matter who I speak to, whether it's family, friends or colleagues, somebody always finds something funny about my voice. There's no need to point and laugh. You're not so perfect yourself, you know. You can't imagine the things I think of you and keep to myself to spare your feelings.

Happy 60 years, Queen Lizzie!

So our Queen, Elizabeth the second has been our monarch for sixty years. I think that's something worth celebrating. I think doing anything for 60 is worth celebrating.
Admittedly, I am not a church goer, so her role as Head of the Church of England has little to do with me, but millions of people stand by her, she is their governor in their faith so I guess I have to respect that.
She does represent my country though. Whether we have done good or bad, she is the face of our nation. I know the Royals have a lot when others have nothing, but I do respect that they bring millions of tourists into the country every year. I think Harrod's are happy to have a Royal family.
I also respect that back in the centuries ago our Royal family gave the public a voice by creating a government rather than continue to steam roll over the nation. Our monarch is still our head of government today. She is actually in charge and deals with national affairs as her day job.
Her eldest son Charles is just hilarious (did you see his Jubilee speech? "Your Majesty... Mummy..."). Her grandsons William and Harry are darlings. I mean how many billions across the globe tuned in to watch Wills and Kate get hitched last year? It's amazing.
So yes, I would rather have them, than not. Also, I love most things red, white and blue. I celebrated our Maj, Queen Lizzie, with Union Jack cupcakes, cups of tea and red, white and blue nails.
Long live the Queen! xoxo

God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen,
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen,
O Lord our God arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall,
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hope we fix,
God save us all,
The choicest gifts in store,
On her be please to pour,
Long may she reign,
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the Queen,
But be God's mercies known,
From shore to shore,
Lord make the nations see,
That men should brothers be,
And form one family,
The wide world over.
For every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the Queen,
O'er her thine arm extend,
Our mother, prince and friend,
God save the Queen!

New handbag!

So the time has come. I have had to admit that I need to fork out and purchase a new handbag. Many of you will question my reluctance. I have been raised to fix things that are broken, not throw them away. That you do not need a new one, if the one you have is perfectly fine. I had fixed my big grey handbag twice already. It had a good run. I have my reliable tan leather satchel, but it doesn't quite fit my need to carry around every single thing I might possibly need while I'm out of the house. I'm mourning my big grey bag, because it could hold everything with room to spare without being ridiculously huge. So when I helped a lady in work to locate a bag she'd seen on the web I was taken back to find a cliche style romance form when I clapped eyes on this beauty. It was like a nude elegant reincarnation of my trusty grey bag. It has fate. So here is it. My beautiful bag. xoxo
